The "Chevron"

Craig has been out of town since last Tuesday and won't be back until this Wednesday. It's been a lonely week, but I've kept myself busy (until today) with my most recent obsession - a Chevron/Zig-Zag quilt. Here's the final product!

I sewed it on my NEW Baby Lock Tempo! I love, love, love this sewing machine. It sews so smoothly and quietly!

A Picture for my Mom :-)

Craig and I ran another 10k this week, so here's a picture for you, Mom!

Post race - we both finished in under 56 minute, so we're getting faster!

Project Pickety Sticks

I haven't done much quilt sewing in the past year, but when my mom was out in February, she found me a cute jelly roll and I had to use it! I just finished a cute quilt called Pickety Sticks - surprisingly, it took me over a week to finish. I definitely have my mom's genes and once I get started I don't stop until it's done. This time, I set a limit of finishing only one row per night...

Finished project.

Close-up.

San Diego

Craig and I were able to go to San Diego over Craig's spring break. It was one of our favorite vacations and we wish we could have stayed longer, or forever... We didn't have much time to relax, but we were able to have lots of adventures!

Picture re-cap (completely out of order):
With a starfish at the tidepools in Carlsbad - some guy found this starfish, let us use it for pictures and then  put it back. Hopefully we didn't traumatize it. Do starfish have feelings??

Beach in Carlsbad
Anthony's Grotto in downtown San Diego. So yummy! We had a pelican keeping us entertained during our meal - it kept diving into the ocean.
We found a farmers' market on Saturday. Most people brought their dogs, but this guy brought his snake.
Also at the farmers' market. A bunch of older men playing bocce ball.
San Diego Temple - it's beautiful!

Craig learning to gold pan at the Mormon Battalion history site.
Balboa Park where we tried to find a surrey bike to rent... Sadly, the surrey bikes must be seasonal because they were nowhere to be found.
USS Midway talking to a WWII veteran.
USS Midway kitchen - it reminded me of my food service internship days.
Disneyland!
Toy Story ride.

Proof that we went on the Screamin' California.

Leprechaun Chase 10k

For Valentine's Day, Craig gave me some green running shorts signed us up for the Leprechaun Chase 10k. The ladies started the race 5 minutes before the guys and the gender that crosses the finish line first gets a free green beer! This year the guys won, but Craig didn't claim his prize...haha. We had a lot of fun running in our green gear, but wish we could have run together.

Pre-race - I know I look silly with running shorts AND capris, but it was windy and I thought I would get cold with just the shorts.

Craig running toward the finish!

Post-race with red faces. I finished in just under 57 minutes and Craig finished in just over 60 minutes. We decided 10k runs are the perfect distance because there's really not much training involved!
